Volunteer FAQ

To get started volunteering at MVH or IFCH, please review our job descriptions and fill out a volunteer application.

Because of the cost of onboarding a new volunteer, we require each volunteer to serve a minimum of 6 months. Generally, volunteers come in for one 4-hour shift per week. Shifts vary by job duty and volunteer availability, but all volunteers must complete 6 months.

Volunteers must be 14 or older. Some positions require volunteers to be 16 or 18.

Shift schedules depend on the area you would like to volunteer and your availability. We will do our best to help you find something to fit your needs and/or interests.

To ensure our patients’ and our volunteers’ safety, we require the following to be completed before you volunteer: volunteer application, background check, medical screening, onboarding and training. For all requirements please refer to the Volunteer Requirements page.

You should hear from the Volunteer Coordinator no later than 3 days after we receive your completed application. If you do not hear back within 3 days, please e-mail me at rcope@mvhospital.net.

Please review our Volunteer Opportunities page for a full listing of available jobs.
